Directions to the Plantation
San Francisco Plantation is west of New Orleans, on the Great Mississippi River Road (Hwy. 44) in Garyville, Louisiana. It is also a convenient side trip or stop over for those traveling from Baton Rouge, Hammond or Houma to the Crescent City of New Orleans.
FROM NEW ORLEANS
Take Interstate 10 to the La Place Exit 206 (Belle Terre) to Hwy. 3188. Turn right on Hwy. 61 (Airline Hwy.) Travel north on Hwy. 61 turn left at the light at Louisiana Machinery to Highway 637. Turn south on Highway 637 and drive to Highway 44 (River Road). Turn right. San Francisco Plantation is approximately 2 miles upriver. The plantation is on the River Road, with plenty of parking on the west side of the house. You won't miss it!
FROM BATON ROUGE
Take Interstate 10 (East) to the Lutcher/Mississippi River Bridge exit #194. Turn right on Highway 641 (South). Follow Highway 641 (South), which will turn into Highway 3213. Exit to Hwy. 44 (River Road) before bridge. Turn left and travel 4 miles to Garyville. Plenty of parking on the west side of the house.
FROM HAMMOND
Take Interstate 55 South to the LaPlace. Exit and get right back on Interstate 10 West, taking Exit 206 (Belle Terre) to Hwy. 3188. Turn right on Hwy. 61 (Airline Hwy.) Travel north on Hwy. 61 to the sixth red light to Highway 637. Turn south on Highway 637 and drive to Highway 44 (River Road). Turn right. San Francisco Plantation is approximately 2 miles upriver. The plantation is on the River Road, with plenty of parking on the west side of the house. You won't miss it!
FROM HOUMA
Take Hwy. 24 North to Hwy. 20. Continue North on Hwy. 20. Turn right in Vacherie on Hwy. 18. Cross River at Hwy. 3213. Take first exit over bridge to Hwy. 44 (River Road). Turn left at River Road and travel 4 miles to Garyville. Plenty of parking on the west side of the house.
